MAR 66 METUCHEN BELLY
« on: October 02, 2011, 09:21:19 AM »
Drove my car up onto a rack and made a few pictures.
Maybe some of you guys could use some aspects for reference.

The floors are ORIGINAL including the epoxy primer.  I only cleaned them up and clear-coated them.  Many other things are not original so do not use anything for reference except floor pan color and paint.  Example of a GREAT DETAIL is how it is clearly obvious it is, based on overspray/missing paint, that the center portions of the pans were sprayed OUTWARD away from car centerline, from underneath.

Thanks for taking the time to take some pictures

About the center out spraying. What leads you to this conclusion?

See the paint on the passenger side outer area of front frame rail (but not the other side)  - is it missing on the outside surface of the rear frame rails or on the outer edges of the convertible floor brace?

Could we have had just a plugged jet for a moment during application

Jeff, focus on the FRONT mount holes for the skid.  Primer is heavy inbord, right up to the mount points.  Then there's absolutely no paint outboard of the holes and the edges (paint-to-no paint) is fogged.

This shows me the skid risers blanked out the spray and the unpainted area shows direction of where the paint was coming from.
The paint was coming from the direction where the rear transmission seal is after installation.
