67 390 blower motor shield

Ran across a 67 FB 390 car, non GT, deluxe interior, in a junkyard today and scored a lot of goodies.  Having a 289 myself, I noticed something different in a metal shield around the blower motor. Perhaps a heat shield.  Anyway it is my possession now.  Can anyone tell me what an approximate value is and what models used it?

I can't believe in 2011 this stuff is out there, but admittedly this is way off the beaten path.  Also found a perfect pair of original kick panels, pass seat deluxe parts and brackets, upper console brackets, fiberglass panels from interior rear.  Headed back tomorrow to get the 390 engine mounts.

I also found twelve 69 Mach I's, all very stripped. One was a 9R02S.  A San Jose built car a couple hours from Dearborn, something I would not expect.

I believe the shield you are refering to is to prevent damage to the blower motor when the BB engine was installed. I believe someone said this piece was to be removed after install but few were.

+1 - that is the current understanding, though they were also used on some small blocks in 67

See the picture below.  I can certainly understand why few were removed.  The shield was retained with 3 fasteners.  There are two holes that went over the same studs as the motor and shared the same retaining nuts.  The third was a sheet metal screw, the typical body screw with extra large phillips head.  When pulled there would evidence from either the sheet metal screw removal, or the sheet metal screw itself if reinstalled.  When looking at the motor the screw is at about the 1 o'clock position, and can be seen in the pic.

Used on big blocks and some small blocks w/ ac.

Likely used on allot more - just easier to remove them on the small blocks ;)

John I don't know if you went again today or plan on the weekend.  Some parts that you may want to look at would be front and rear springs if original, looks like speedo cable is under the car and I believe the throttle bellcrank assembly may be BB specific.

Thanks for the tips.  It is a 5 hour round trip...will go back tomorrow (Sat) or next Tues/Wed when work takes me within a few miles.

The car, unfortunately, sits on the floorpan.  Well, what was the floorpan.  It has pretty much returned to dust.

The rear tires are buried half way, so I suppose the rear axle is still there, sitting at ground level or, due to weight, partially buried.  I don't think that we can get any heavy equipment back there.  Is it worth going after?  The rear sheet metal is rusted enough so that the back end of the rear springs are through the floor and up in the air about a foot.

Some more pictures are added below.  I still have not learned from Jeff, and did not take enough pictures.  :-[

This was not a GTA model and has a swaybar smaller than my C code GTA.  The springs are both there.  Pass side front has a finned drum on the brake, drivers side spindle removed.

A 390 with non power disc brakes? That's pretty unusual.

I think it was a drum car.  Has a finned drum on the pass side.
