Remove the round pin and the U shaped bracket will come off and the shaft will slide off.
The round pin on these appears to have grown onto the shaft on the few of these I've done.We are talking building thick plate metal supports on either side of the aluminum saddle and hitting the pin with a drift and a 2 1/2 pound hammer tight.

The whole thing can be plated together. The steel spacer on the end can be removed.
