'66 Foglight Brackets
« on: August 18, 2011, 02:43:14 AM »
I recently acquired a set of '66 foglight brackets that were originals, since my foglight set up was gone when I originally  purchased my GT. After bead blasting I uncovered the stamped markings on the backside of each. Both are marked "R.H. TOP". I have one other original bracket that I received in a parts lot. It is marked the same way. I've had it for quit a while now and had always assumed the "R.H." stood for "right hand". Each time I've ever "assumed" anything about Mustangs it's returned to bite me in the rear! ;)

I checked some references and have been unable to find Ford part numbers denoting a specific right hand and left hand bracket. I've also looked carefully at the brackets for anything in the design which would require them to be side a specific application and haven't seen anything readily apparent. Anyone ever found a bracket marked "L.H. TOP"?!

p.s. I have my fingers crossed that I don't have THREE right hand brackets now! :o

JKWILSON: I have what I believe to be two original 66 fog light brackets. One is marked at the top, on the inside portion that faces the engine compartment,  "TOP RH" ,  the other is marked "TOP LH", in the same place. There does appear to be a difference. The bottom hole located on both brackets has a flat area in it. If you look from the front ( the part that faces forward), the flat area on the left hand bracket is at the 5 o'clock position of the hole, on the right hand bracket, the flat area is located at the 7 o'clock
position. other wise the brackets appear to be identical. If you don't have a left hand bracket maybe you can modify one of the right hand ones you have.

Thanks. Since I have nothing to compare them to, that helps. Guess I now have THREE right hand brackets! :'(

Just wanted to say good luck with your search Bob. For some reason it seems the RH ones are more readily available! :o

Hi after reading your reply, I realized I made a mistake. I have 3 LH and need to trade or purchase 1 or 2 RH brackets. One of the left,s I have is NOS. If you are interested in trading or selling a RH please let me know.  Thanks Bob  ::)

What is the correct finish?  black phosphate, semigloss paint or gloss black?                                   I have seen all three used. Thanks for any tips. : :-\

The fog light bar brackets should be semi-gloss black, a little more to the eggshell side.
