Topic: window winder handle wont fit new regulator

Hi all,

I recently overhauled the drivers door internals, and fitted a new "best repro" regulator from NPD as the old one was dodgy winding back up.

Put everything back together and adjusted everything (had fitted all new seals to door, vent window etc) only to find once I'd refitted the water sheild and door card that the original winder hanlde would not push on fully onto the splined winder drive. Very annoying as I was entering judging a day later and didnt have time to resolve it!

Anyway, does anyone know if the size/design of the fitment of the winder / handles changed at all through 67/68? As I am wondering if I have been sent the wrong part, though everything else looked identical to the original I removed.

I tried swaping handles from the passenger side and thats the same, so it isnt the handles themselves, definitely to do with the regulator spline.

Any help appreciated! With some force, I can get it on a little bit just to wind the window up or down.

Check the length of the new regulator crank shaft to the one taken off.  I am almost sure that the 67 and 68 were different lengths.  I thinking the 68s are shorter.

they are the same length. Ii did also just now find on the web info that the shaft was shorter on the '68s but that isnt my problem. Its the girth!

Then it sounds like a problem with the regulator.  I have 67 handles on my 68 daily driver (needed longer screws) so I am sure the girth is the same for both years.
