Vacume line strap install
« on: July 25, 2011, 09:28:41 AM »
I have a small aluminum strap for the vacume lines coming out of the stem at the upper manifold neck. How does it get installed? Do you just feed it through the slot and then bend it back? Do you trim the end off?

An aluminum one - is that what you've found on Dearborn cars? Typically have seen the aluminum on San Jose and more brass on Dearborn on at least 69 examples - likely IMHO a different supplier thing

It simply gets wrapped around the hoses, the tail inserted through the slot then the extra is wrapped around and around. Originally there were a number of different lengths I've found but the length does not vary allot.

Thanks for the response. Would this be fairly tight around the lines causing them to bind close together or loose enough to snake the line in an out if My description makes Sense.

Not fairly tight from my observations maybe others have different . Bob

As Bob mentioned the strap is not tight (don't want to pinch the hoses) and the friction against the rubber appears to keep it from moving much
