Fuel line protector bracket/plate thingy color
« on: July 21, 2011, 10:27:02 AM »
What is that fuel line protector bracket/plate called that is near the front of the left leaf spring?  I haven't seen it in any catalog.

What color is it on a SJ 68?  And the bolts?

We need a massive concours FAQ database.

Thnks

I believe if you search the 67-68 threads you will find this answered. I asked this question in the past year. Not sure about SJ can but consensus is bracket is either dipped black or natural and bolts are phosphate and oil.

Since I didn't know what to call it, didn't have any luck searching.  One thread said "Fuel Bracket", but it wasn't specific enough to know for sure if that was it.  Thanks.

I have paid a lot more attention to 67 SJ cars that had them then 68. I have seen a lot more bare metal then I have painted in 67 but have seen both. I would assume 68 would be similar but can't say for sure. Jeff should pick up here as he is very knowledgeable on SJ build differences. Fuel line protector plate is what I call it . It is not reproduced that I am aware of. AMK sells a bolt kit for it. Bob

Though most of the unrestored cars are not really pretty I would believe that originally they were unpainted steel originally, based on the surface rust on those examples when compared to the rear leaf springs and the painted floors of the same vehicles

Retaining bolts/screws to be similar so maybe phosphate and oil - of course the case number for the hardware will list the finish ;)

I thought that since mine was a late 67, it could be relevant
