1967 Production Options offered on the 289 hipo/k code
« on: June 15, 2024, 10:10:19 AM »
I am familiar with the limited number of options offered on the 65-66 K code Mustang, but not sure about 1967.  Was Select Aire a factory option for the K code Mustang in 1967?
Thanks
Ron

I can't think of any that were not available with the k-code engine option for the 1967 model year.

On the flip side, the GT equipment group option was required with the k-code for 67.

I'm pretty sure Bob or Jeff can confirm but I believe the 67 GT350's did not have Factory Air as an available option...but I'm no expert. Those were obviously K-codes. Reason being the higher RPM capabilities and that the compressor wasn't suitable to those conditions.

Thanks for your replies and posting this in the
right place.  I try to keep a digital copy of the
Marti report when a car is for sale or the report is made
public. I have yet to see a 67 k code listed with
Select Aire.  However, my records are limited and 67
K codes are few!

Selectaire was not an option on the 67 K code.

Selectaire was not an option on the 67 K code.
The fact that so many 67 GT350 came factory with A/C and documented so by Ford records seems to contradict the option sheet you posted.

Hi 67 Hipo Fans,
Just a few comments on this subject. As Bob points out we know how many cars were built by Shelby with A/C  If you need exact details you should buy a 67 registry. The Ford info sheet also points out power steering was not available which we also know not to be the case at least for the Shelby build. Ford built less than 500 "K" equipped Mustangs and with the engine option quite expensive it is easy to see why it was the last year for the Hipo. It is doubtful many of this build would have the additional expense of A/C  For a good look into the details Kevin Marti's books provide info.
Hope this helps

Since the original post focused on Mustangs and not Shelby's it makes allot of difference in the correct answer for the original question.

Guess it might be like an OP asking of any of the original body panels on a 67 Mustang were made of fiberglass and another member using the Shelby examples. Just saying  ::)

Guess if a real 67 Marti report showed up with a a K code and AC we would have something to discuss or follow up on

"Splitting hairs" that of course could and is an opinion :D But then again that is what we do here often and level of detail we (in some peoples opinion)  sometime find ourself's focusing on.

Don't think the option list is in conflict. Two different cars types (Mustang vs Shelby) so two different lists. Comparing exterior or interior options is just another.  Sure we don't need to take the time here in this thread the similarities and the differences

Yes. I was thinking the K code Mustang and not the 67 Shelby GT 350.

I did find this document (AMA Specifications - Passenger Car)  Convenience Equipment
p. 23 with Ford Selectaire as an option for the 67 Hipo.  I guess most options were available.

AMA Specifications were assembled and submitted prior to the start of production of a model from my understanding and you can add production changes during production. They needed to be assembled and published in advance so that they would be useful to those that subscribed.  Often differences between what was planed and what was built. Thing's like 71 Boss 302's, 427 equipped 68 and so on
