1967 convertible boot molding screws
« on: June 23, 2024, 03:12:09 PM »
Hi, can anyone post a picture of an original '67 convertible boot molding screw?  According to the '67 assembly book they are standard #382043-S100, but i can't find that part number in any standard part catalogs.  Has  anyone found another part number for them?

thanks,
garrett

The 1975 edition of "Ford Car Parts" (aka MPC - available in this forum's library) body sect 420 pg 9, lists Ford hardware part number 372958-S100, qty 13, as the service replacement part for the trim piece, 1967 only. I found no information on 382043-S100. A drawing of 372958-S is available in the 1969 Ford Standard and utility Pats Catalog, pg 46.

If you are looking for the Phillips head snap screw, NPD has the correct screws for $11.99 each. This same screw is also listed as available from Tasca Ford for $8.80 under P/N 359274S100. According to AMK this is a 8-32 x 15/32 Pan Head Snap Stud, they list it in their Ford Fastner Manual, but I cannot find it in their on-line catalogue.

I remember seeing '67 boot molding snaps that were a lower profile than the 65/66.  The lower attachment of the snaps are different on '67 than 65/66 also.  It's a rectangular clip with a threaded center hole.  65/66 were a slide clip with raised tang type in the center to help the stainless section from collapsing from over-tightening.

The 1975 edition of "Ford Car Parts" (aka MPC) section 420 of the body text pg 9, lists 372958-S100 as the service replacement. It is not reproduced. However, NPD - https://www.npdlink.com/ - sells 359274-S100, 1/16 inch longer, for $11.99 each.
I find that price to be ridiculous. I would contact NPD to verify this.
According to the "AMK Products Guide To Ford Fasteners 1955-73" pg 53, they are 15/32 inch long (0.468 in L). The service screw/snaps were listed (same AMK Guide page) at 13/32 inch long (0.406 in ).
(If you can afford them, I won't tell anybody that yours are 1/16 of an inch longer.)
