Wire Harness Hook Location
« on: June 10, 2024, 08:07:03 AM »
I am restoring a 1964.5 Convertible Mustang.  There is a metal strap hook which looks to be a 5/8" wide strip of sheet metal which is plastic coated up to within about 1" of one end.  Mine came mounted just to the left of the screws that mount the air vent bracket/emergency brake to the bottom edge of the dash.  From the picture I found in the electrical assembly manual it looks to me like the hook is mounted perhaps to one of the threaded studs that mount the air vent up under the dash.  Clearly my strap has been mis formed but can be easily bent back into the shape shown in the wiring diagram if this is the correct shape and location for it.

Can anyone confirm the mounting location for this hook as well as the correct shape?  Does anyone have any pictures?

Thank you,

Corey

Seen those mounted to bottom edge of the dash like you found.

Attached are a drawing I made. some pictures and copies of the 1965 Mustang Electrical Assembly Manual of Ford hardware part number 370805-S100. The 1964 Mustang Electrical Assembly Manual referenced Ford hardware part number 377904-S but I cannot find a reference to that number in available Ford documentation. Ford hardware part number 370805-S (not -S100) appears in the 1975 edition "Ford Car Parts" (aka MPC, link available in this forums library) Illustration Section 140, pg 5 but as obsolete, not serviced.

Jim,

Thank you this is very interesting.  It is interesting to see the difference between the 64.5 electrical drawing and the 65 drawing.  So similar yet different.  It makes it look like my hook would be different that yours based on the drawing.  I do not have the connector shown in your drawing.  I have the discrete in line connectors shown in my drawing.  Subtle differences.
