Topic: 68 2V Carb FAA-18954-A Heater Hose Straps

Never noticed these in the assembly manual except for now.  There are supposed to be 2 of them securing the hoses for 2V carb installations.  What is the length and width of these straps and are they rubber coated or just bare aluminum?

Also it's hard to see exactly how they are wrapped in the assembly manual page.  Does someone have some pictures of the proper installation they can share?

It certainly is an odd part number prefix.  The 60-68 MPC text has two listings, and the part is called "Hose Clamp" as part of a kit, and "Clamp - Radio Antenna Hose" in another.  The 65-72 has dozens of images showing a generic 18954 basic part number, but no listing of the FAA-18954-A part.

The ones that I have seen for that application were all aluminum. NPD sells some.

The 1962 single year P&A catalog lists this part, plus a -B variant, as part of an Air Conditioner Kit.

Since this thread is not car plant specific (since heater hose installation was a car plant thing) would like to share that I've not seen or found these straps on San Jose built cars. Don't recall seeing them until I started looking at later 60's-early 70's cars built at other plants

As usual the assembly manuals were what Ford wanted done (after the date printed on the individual sheet or until a correction was made on a later printing of the sheet) not always what the guys on the line choose to do. Yes the vast majority of details had to be the same just to complete the car but there are always the exceptions

Not counting the number of car pictures I've looked at, it sure does appear the majority of cars do not use the straps and in fact one heater hose is under the ventilation hose whereas the other is not.  I'm not sure this is ever going to be something we can nail down definitely. I'm going with splitting the hoses and will not bother with the straps.
