Tilt Steering Installation
« on: July 12, 2024, 02:01:05 PM »
I am trying to help a friend re-install his tilt steering in his GT-350, it has been out of the car for a number of years and quite frankly he doesn't remember
everything to re-install it.  I am looking for under dash pictures of the column installed.  Also if you have any pointers or advice for installation or common "mistakes" from a judging stand point I would welcome those, as well.

Would start with the exploded views from the MPC then the vacuum diagrams from the 68 Electrical and Vacuum book.

Well its  a start and what comes first to my mind at the moment

Sure esomeone will suggest the Assembly Manuals but don't have a 68 Mustang interior one to be able to check if its in there

The tilt wheel installation is documented in the "1968 Mustang Chassis Assembly Manual" (AM0025) page 68 (it also includes Cougar). The underdash electric wiring harnesses are covered in the "1968 Mustang Electric Assembly Manual" (AM0023) page 34 (E8-8600-1).

Note: There are a couple of errors on the 1968 chassis installation page (AM0025, pg 68). Ford Car Parts (75 edition, aka MPC) Illustration Sect 35 page 11 (available in this forums' library) has a lot (yes, it is two words) of details, but it may not be what was used on the assembly line.

Don't forget 1" friction tape around wire cover. Lot easier to install w/ column out of car.
