Heater box rebuild

Any pointers on rebuilding the heater box on my 67 coupe, non-ac car? I just purchased a seal kit. Will replace the blower motor and heater core. Anything I should be aware of when disassembling the heater box, cleaning, painting and such?

Do not use an aluminum heater core.

Be super careful when removing the clips that hold the two halves together.  Don't break any of the tabs.

Use two screwdrivers, one on each side stuck in the "dip's' upturn" and gently pry the dip apart using both hands. It's an unwieldy operation, but it should keep the case intact at the clips location.
