1968 AC compressor tag
« on: December 15, 2023, 09:58:28 PM »

Curious if anyone has photos of other unrestored cars showing this tag and the brace how this was installed together.  Mostly in reference to how the wire is routed over or under the tag.  The assembly manual shows the AC brace on top with the wiring clip next and the tag under those two.  Something like this.  This is a May 1968 Metuchen built C code for reference:

I also have this in the shop here which is a June 1968 San Jose built C code:

Was the brace continually installed the whole year? I thought that it was deemed not necessary at some point?

I have not heard that before about the brace.  The assembly manual drawing I was looking at is dated Feb of 1968 and the unrestored car I have here is June 1968 and it has that brace.  Both Mustangs...but assume a Cougar would be the same since its an engine, not body, piece.
