Boss 302 Engine Detailing
« on: October 17, 2016, 06:06:59 PM »
Because the size of the file, this may take a minute to load.
What I put together here is an update to the original article that Bob Perkins wrote in 2000 that was printed in Mustang Monthly and added some new information and photos.  Comments.....let me know.  Big difference for me is seeing all of this in color now.

The engine pictured is a 70, but the engine decal is from a 69. Also, one of Jeff's pictures of an original 69 decal shows the timing (and something illegible above the timing) rather than a small C1.

Carl the sticker you reference is a early 80's Jim Osborne creation with incorrect information. The sample he used was from a 69 Boss  429 , thus the L for Lima plant rather than C1 for Cleveland plant.

Doesn't look like an L to me but I can't really make it out. Were Windsor engines assembled in Cleveland and just the parts cast at the Windsor plant?

EDIT - I guess you were referring to the decal in Marcus's guide and not the one Jeff describes as original?

Carl let me offer that the picture was included in the thread about reproducing the engine ID labels and not meant to be a representation of a specific year or model original sticker. If it has I would have likely  included a caption referring it as an original for a specific application. Will try and think about that if and when I do something similar in future postings and will replace it with an original

It sure looks aged enough to be original! Unfortunately my original (I think) decal is not of much use.

Yes I think we can all agree :) that one in your picture is too far gone for much except for location and maybe size
