« on: April 24, 2011, 09:06:14 PM »
Should the top side of the Stone Deflector (Front Bumper) be painted body color ?

for a 69 Mach1 Black Jade built at San Jose on February 26 1969.

Yes!!

+1  Ford knew that this area/surface would be visible so an attempt was made (normally) to put some body color on it - sometimes a really nice coat - sometimes an ok coat

Here is an example - in this case 69 NJ

I'm confused - is that a LOWER VALANCE?  (I was thinking the filler that is horizontal to bumper)

Let me know -CAUSE I might have to redo my car !

Mark - you probably have an answer to this from someone, but the stone deflector (not valance) is body color on top and appears to be red oxide on the bottom on my SJ car.  Not too noticeable on a red car like mine, but would be on your blue one.

Sorry Mark this one got over looked. Would agree that the panel your asking about would have been top - body color and the bottom red oxide with not much overspray since there are no edges than needed to be painted that would have produced allot of overspray -
