70 Sportsroof boomerang
« on: February 04, 2023, 12:45:25 PM »
This SCJ car has been in parts for several years.  I tossed out the boomerang trim pieces long ago and purchased these re-pops some time ago.  There is a large gap between the trim piece and the body that I believe requires some kind of bracket that needs to be installed behind it and sealed. Is that correct and if so where would I find a  for both sides?

Having owned a 69 Sportsroof and a 70 Mach 1, I just had to see what a "boomerang" was. I guess it's labeled wrong. You tossed yours. It didn't come back.

Are both sides of the car the same?

Can't tell exactly but could your car be missing these plates?  Seen them mistakenly missed before

They're called drip rail extensions. They should be installed prior to painting the body. Seam sealer is used to blend them into the body. The chrome boomerang trim goes on over them.

Thank you Jeff.  My paint and body guy must have removed them at some point because I know I didn't.  I'm discovering that I will have to order the full drip rail set just to get these two short pieces.

Here is a clearer view of the pieces as I was getting my Mach ready for paint.
