65 Package tray delux interior
« on: September 02, 2022, 03:14:22 PM »
The only info I can find regarding the package tray finish is that it was painted. For the deluxe interior model (65B) the assembly guide shows a different part number (C5ZB-6546668) for the trim. "Panel assembly" infers something different was done. Did it get a vinyl covering or something else or was it painted like the standard model? My original is long gone.
Also, does anyone know what color it should be for interior trim 68, Ivy Gold and White?

Hi Jeff,
This was moved to the 68 Mustang area. My question relates to a 65 MY. The 68 mentioned in the post refers to the interior trim code.

BTW, if anyone has a photo of the package tray area of an unmodified 65B (deluxe interior), that might answer my original question.

Sorry moved it to the correct location.

Interesting page and one printed prior to the release of the option so one wonders if it was altered again before production started

Have not noticed any difference in the package tray/panel between a standard and deluxe interior coupe in 65 on the ones I've owned or seen

Sorry don't have any pictures to offer of a package tray showing that exact interior or another 65 deluxe interior coupe that are unrestored. Not something many would think to take a picture of

1965 Hardtop Package Tray Colors-
« Reply #4 on: November 23, 2022, 05:07:51 PM »
Attached is a page from the 1968 edition of "Ford Car Parts" (aka MPC) Soft Trim text, listing the available Ford service replacement stock numbers for 1965 Mustang Hardtop package tray colors. The data shown for the 1965 Mustang package tray Soft Trim section is identical in the MPC to the 1966 Mustang tray colors attachment shown below but colors for 1965 would not include 1966 colors. The list indicates service availability, and may not list all available assembly line colors. The Ford base numbers are 46656 and 46668 (shown as C5ZB-6546656 and C5ZB-6546668 in the 1965 Mustang Interior Assembly Manual, AM0007, pg38).
Note: 1964 1/2 Mustang Hardtops colors would be the same as 1965. The Ford base number is 46656 (shown as C4ZB-6546656 in the 1964 Mustang Interior Assembly Manual, AM0002, pg22).

Thanks for the feedback Jim. What you posted comports with the color listing in the "Color Code Project" (where I should have looked originally!):
