1970 Outside Door Handles Marking
« on: January 23, 2011, 10:31:50 PM »
I just bought two outside door handles from two different sellers.  They were both suppose to be NOS.  The RH handle has FOMOCO logo and the complete C4 part number stamped on the back side.  The LH handle does not have any Ford logo, it has "LH", "B635" and "21643"stamped on it and a logo that looks like a "W".

Is it possible that Ford made some door handles without the Ford logo or C4 part number?  Looking to see if I should return it?

Hello Craig was the non nos handle purchased from Klassicpart which seemed to be a primarily mopar parts store? If so I have the same handle which I had looked at by a 25 yr high end Mustang and Shelby restoration shop and they told me mine was a repo. And this was the second handle from them as the first was a Ford handle that I had someone look as well because of its poor plating. We thinking the same thing had the same conclusion  that it was a Ford core that was rechromed and had a blem that someone tried to sand out and gave up one and that how I received it from Klassicpart.

A follow up on these door handles the W that was mentioned before is a capital "W" with smaller capital "D and "C" in the valley of the W. D in the left and C in the right. all the before mentioned letters and numbers are the same as mentioned in the first post. I see no C-4 number or Ford Oval logo at all!

Yes, it did come from Klassicpart.  They did accept the return, but it did cost me shipping both ways for a reproduction part.
