Topic: 1966 coil spring daubs 6 cyl

I'm trying to figure out which should be the correct purple daub for my 6 cylinder coil springs.

I have a few Testors purple daubs but the colors are a bit off. 

Anyone know the correct Testors color code for purple/violet.

The 1st picture is the original daub or what's left of it. 

In the 2nd picture I brushed 2 Testors daubs on each side and the original daub in the middle.  You can see that the other 2 daubs are a bit off in shade. 

In the 5th picture I restored the first spring and used dark blueing. 

In the last picture the top edge seems to have some black paint which I'm not sure why its there... Both springs have them.  I believe my springs were not painted as when I took them off of a de-rust solution they were bare metal except for the top paint... Before they were covered with Factory underocoating and surface rust.  The top black paint is barely shown and covers the top 2 coils.  Maybe the Factory painted that top portion for the coil top isolator.

don't believe you will find a pre mixed color that is correct. you will have to mis &  match to make it look right. that is the same with most paint markings. trial & error.

Try Home Depot. They have a "paint" matching device. It might work. I've used their capability a couple of times with "acceptable" results. The cost is about 7 or 8 dollars for a 7.25 oz container.

Do you guys know what is the best technique to apply the daub stripes on each coil.  Is there a specific length brush that needs to be used.  Do the daubs have to be perfectly straight.  Do I apply the stripes while the coil is vertical or laying horizontally.

Just ordered Testors 1190 Lilac Gloss from the charts...  Looks like the tone matches my original daub.  Hopefully it is correct shade or at least 90% correctness.
