Ok, thanks for the info, I didn't think of that but I can still catch up.
Overpainted turn signals and cables are normally prohibited for a vehicle painter. I just have to rethink and work as "bad" as it was done factory. 

Professional painters have been trained or beaten into by the typical customer base to have everything nice and neat and in turn want to tape and control where every drop of paint goes because if this.  Just have to think of how things were originally done and how to reproduce that look. Sometimes it can be refreshing to not have to "color within the lines" but it is something many painters have to fight mentally after all these years
