Topic: How close is ok for Concours casting date

Hi, I have a 1966 Fastback GT. It still has it's original engine. Sometime in the past few decades, someone removed the intake and installed an aluminum Edelbrock. I've been searching for months for an original one in the correct date range. My car has a build date of July 15, 1966. The engine block casting date is June 17, 1966 and the engine assembly date is June 29, 1966. The closest intake manifold that I've been able to find is May 18, 1966. My question is, is this close enough to be concours correct? Do I need to keep searching for a early June date? I have not found another one cast in June at all. Could they have had a backlog of intakes at this point and not cast any in June? Thanks for any help.

As long as it is before the assembly date you should be fine

The May dated intake would be fine.

Looking at other original block and intake casting dates I have records for intake and blocks were typically cast the same month or adjoining months So a May/June groups is great IMHO

As long as it is before the assembly date you should be fine

It's the engine assembly date, not the car's (scheduled) assembly date that is key.
