Subject: Strange '65-'66 HiPo Emblems...

I went to a show last week around my hometown, and the guy had a '65 Mustang Hardtop with a HiPo motor, and the car was wearing these badges...  I had to do a doubletake as I noticed that something just was'nt right.. Then I noticed it..

Anyone know where or what Ford car these HiPo emblems are from?  I have never seen them before.. or Are they somekind of Aftermarket creation??

I though it highly interesting!

According to the following article, the badges were Fairlane badges, and the Mustang featured in the Motor Trend article (August 1964) wore them because the Mustang badges were not ready yet. Others will have to weigh in on whether they were used on any early production Mustangs.

Fairlane, or maybe even one of the rare Hi-Po Falcons, would be my guess.
Too much junk, too little time.

Yes,

I remembered the 1964 Motor Trend article as well right after I wrote this thread-this morning...and I even have the issue.  They were on the 64 1/2 HiPo "Test Mule" car.   You're 100% correct..and your pic is from that article that MM nicely re-printed.

I agree, They are probably early '64 Fairlane.

PS: As for the paintjob on the car, It's just perspective!  The paint on the car was rather nice with some limited orange peel..
