C4 transmission cooling lines for 1968 with 200 I6 engine
« on: February 28, 2022, 09:26:43 AM »
Hello all
I have a question regarding the transmission cooling lines for my 68 with the C4 and 200 engine.  This car was completely taken apart and stored in boxes.  The cooling lines I found have only 3 of 4 fittings.  The ends that go to the radiator have the appropriate fittings but for the lines that go to the transmission, only 1 has a fitting; the other has no fitting or flare.  Seems to me there should be a fitting on this tube as well.  I can?t see that this pipe transitioned to rubber hose for a short run then to another short steel pipe to connect to the transmission?but I?ve been wrong before!

Dave,
It's time for you to get acquainted with "Ford Car Parts", aka  the MPC. There are copies in the library (courtesy of the T-Bird website I might add). You want to look at illustrated Section A71, page 6. Then go to the text section A71 for C4 specific part numbers.

Both lines are solid one piece lines from trans to radiator with fittings on each end. Unfortunately its not unusual to find one or both modified for multiple possible reasons by past owners
