Roof Console Interior
« on: February 03, 2022, 08:25:17 PM »
Is there a specific one only for 68 mustangs much like the floor console or would a 67 be appropriate to the 68? I had a 67 floor console I've since removed but before I remove the roof console, I wanted to know if there are differences between the 2 years.

The 67 insert is brushed aluminum, the 68 insert is a wood grain applique. The roof console was not a standalone optionlike the floor console, it was included in the decor' interior option group.

So I'm assuming that having only the roof console would be a 5 point deduction on the MCA concours scoring sheet.  Plus since I have a tear in my headliner that could be another deduction up to 5 points too.

Would it make sense then to remove the roof console and attempt to repair any holes best as possible so I'd only get max 5 point deduction for the roofliner and not get an additional 5 point deduction for improper equipment? I'm going to the Florence SC MCA show in April and will be judged in the concours driven class.

I had a 68 fastback with a standard interior that had the overhead console that I showed in the MCA Concours driven class, I was never deducted for the console. Yes you could receive a deduction for it, but it is a nice option and considering how much work and cost is involved in correcting it I would leave it in. I would only deduct a point or two for it in the trailered class. I only mentioned it so you would know what is correct.

See you in Florence.
