What is this hole used for?
« on: January 16, 2022, 06:26:04 PM »
What is this hole at the transmission hump near the shifter used for? My car is a March 66 built San Jose automatic trans fastback. Thanks for the help.

It's for manual transmission backup light wiring.

Should it have a plug or not be there at all for an automatic car?

I have seen automatic cars without the hole, but will defer to others to weigh in.

Have never seen a plug there, a little ball of strip caulk would work to seal it.
