1970 Mustang Black Knit Vinyl Decor bucket seats
« on: November 27, 2021, 11:33:21 PM »
Hi, I am trying to bring a very original 70 Sportsroof back to life and need some help determining what my interior should look like like.

The Marti states TA Black Knit Vinyl Decor Bucket seats.

Can someone provide me a pic of such an interior?

THX
Tim

Only found a couple of examples with that 1970 interior code and the view is limited but hope they help in some way

Basically Standard door panels with the wood grain dash and seats that look like 69 Mach I but with a gray stripe

If I recall correctly the deluxe/Mach I steering wheel was a separate option that year

Hi Jeff, I found this on the Boss 302 site. I think this is what mine came with. Do you?

Just the seat covers. My interior is complete other than the seat covers.

If you have the seats shown in the last pic you'll be met with sticker shock on the latest prices.
I'm still trying to figure out the button prices!

Hi Jeff, I found this on the Boss 302 site. I think this is what mine came with. Do you?

Going to make me do some more digging :)

According to what I see in examples that interior (as we see it) does not match what yours would have. Appears to be code EA which decodes as a black Delux interior  installed/available for 70 Boss 302 and 70  convertibles not sportroofs and coupes. This is one reason its been more of a challenge to find pictures of the TA interior

If we look at at some of the published descriptions of your interior they show "Deluxe " or "Decor" Interior and notes that these came with standard door panels as shown in the pictures I posted. If we expand outside of your specific interior codes and look at other color combinations under the same Deluxe/or Decor interiors we can find some other examples that can hopefully supply some details to help you.

Unfortunately the VIN tags made of vinyl attached to the doors often are difficult to make out after all these years so will also look for other confirmations of interior types this time through. Also sorry for some of the pictures. I'm often focused on other areas and details during the limited time I got with some of these cars.

So now focusing more on the seat coverings

70 listed as being ordered with Delux Interior from one of the nicest unrestored Boss 429's in the country

Another very nice unrestored Boss 429 with a TW (White Delux) interior. Same option/family just different color

I'm still trying to figure out the button prices!

See a fair number of "restored" cars with no buttons out there.

GTEDH as should be able to see I'm trying to be very measured and careful with my responses. The following is an example that may match your interior code (with the deluxe steering wheel option) but I don't know that the car has/had the same interior code but it looks like it might.

Hope all of these help

Thanks Jeff. The Marti Report indicates an Interior Code of TA.

So far it looks like the Boss interior.

Just a thought here but if your car was born with an am radio you can check to see if there is holes for wiring in the door hinge area both in the door and body. A standard door panel car with an am radio would not have addition wiring unless it was added by a previous owner. No holes no lights. Of course this whole idea goes right out the window if your car was born with an am/8-track or am/fm radio.

Thank you for your input, everyone. I see what direction I need to go and have ordered a very expensive set of covers, wow they got inventory, so they get their price.

Well is should in some areas and different in others based on what we have found so far. Boss is different and carries a different interior code.

Understood. The interior pics you sent me with the deluxe seats and the rimblow wheel and standard door panels matches.
