I had two Metuchen '66 Hardtops...
The first one, I had, I actually found the build sheet crumpled into a little spitball lodged into the corner of one of the two upper dashpad "wing" support. I could not believe it was there. I found it when I removed the original dashpad.
The second one, I found in an almost impossible place.. Above the headliner.. I was shocked that it was there.
Usually, They are found under the seats, but usually taped to the main wiring harness behind the instrument cluster.. look for Black tape.. Also, Sometimes, they are found on top of the original cardboard glove compartment, if it is still there. Once in a great while, they are found under the original carpeting, but in that place, They are usually long since discintegrated..
I have found as well as other people, that "Deluxe" cars usually carry more than one copy of the build sheet but it holds true for regualr cars as well, just not as much. Usually 2 or 3 are found in one vehicle if it was unmolested I have found. Metuchen cars were definately the most documented by the factory...no question. It's almost a real "bummer", when you have a Metuchen car and find absolutely nothing...Because you are always expecting at least "something" from that plant.
