Autolite 4100 carburetor gasket

Wanting to see what others are using for a 4100 carb to spacer, and spacer to intake replacement gasket? Also, how thick should these gaskets be? I need to freshen up my carb and will need to replace the two.

I do not know the thickness of the gasket however I bought them from https://www.carburetor-parts.com/4100parts.html and I've had no issues.

A friend was having idle issues with his 4100 after it was restored. Come to find out that generic 4v gaskets he used absolutely do not work. They must fit precisely or you will have vacuum leaks. Buy only gaskets for this application. I did not get the name/number of the correct gaskets.

Also, if you have high idle issues make sure the throttle plates seat correctly. I've seen two restored 4100s where the plates were not seated in the bores correctly. Unscrewing the throttle screw did nothing to alleviate the high idle. We made sure the fast idle cam was not engaged...

I also noted that the secondary plate stop (a screw in the base for the secondary plates) was stuck resulting in the secondaries being open more than they should have been.

The local Mustang shop uses an aftermarket Ford truck gasket for 4100 carburetors. It's not concourse, but it works.

The shop referenced above recommends Fel-Pro gakets ( https://www.felpro.com/ ), 60059 - carburetor to spacer; 60324, spacer to manifold. They are not stock but work.

Thanks to everyone for their input. I have seen previous threads about this but wanted to see current responses.

Thanks Jim, I will give these a try.

I will also be "sanding" my 1" spacer on a piece of glass to make sure it is true and not warped. I have been noticing a slight surge up and down when just slightly having my foot on the gas. Plugs, ignition, wires, etc. are recent but the carb has had its gaskets/rebuild for several years so wouldn't hurt to start there with a fresh set.

There is another area that could cause a problem, an intake manifold that is not flat so that when you tighten the carburetor, the perfectly flat spacer warps. You then "blame the spacer".
A couple of old timers' tricks: with the engine idling, spray water around a suspected leak area. The RPMs should drop or the engine dies as water is sucked in.
Another trick: with the engine idling, spray WD40 around a suspected leak area. The RPMs should rise as the oil is sucked in. Don't use gas for this test. I've heard that kerosene works but I got this this thing about fires.
