I ordered a repo center bumper, no worries, most parts suppliers have them, and they all appear identical... except it doesn't fit on my 66 GT Fastback.
My original has a flat bottom (on Left) and the repo has a 90 deg bent edge on one side (on Right).  I saw a NOS on line (C5ZZ-4730-B) which matches
my original with the flat bottom.

Anyone know why the difference?

Because the snubber plate on a dual exhaust car is different than single exhaust.

So... note to self... The center bumper sold on the repo market as C5ZZ-4730-B will only fit single exhaust cars,
yet the NOS center bumpers, (with part no. C5ZZ-4730-B) will only fit dual exhaust cars.

It appears that if I need a center bumper for a GT car, my only option is to buy NOS.

Plus, I'll add "snubber plate" to my list of GT car indicators.

Thanks Charles.

This only applies to A code GT's as K codes don't usually have a bumper installed there, it's on a bracket affixed to the differential.
