fair price on Autolite carb
« on: March 13, 2021, 11:18:53 AM »
So found this carb on feebay. I think it's it's pretty steep. WCCC sells this carb for $404.85 in this condition but is out. That site has a way to let you know when one comes available. I see other carbs restored, new plating, for $699.00 to $799.00. Just trying to get an idea of value for a future purchase. https://www.ebay.com/itm/1970-Mustang-Mach1-Torino-Cougar-Xr7-Eliminator-REMAN-351C-4V-4-Speed-CARBURETOR/154363516889?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649

I think if you buy the carb from WCCC for that price it's a rebuildable core. The one on eBay the guy says is a remanufactured unit and it looks like it was - decades ago.

Exactly. It's a rebuildable core. Rebuilt/remanufactured years ago is irrelevant now. Its got a lot of rust and it needs re-plating. I'll get a notification when WCCC gets another. Just trying to establish the "going rate" for a 351C 4sp carb.

The ebay seller in your link doesn't have the best reputation for being forthcoming with accurate descriptions ether. ;)

I have a 4300 D2SF AB sitting around and wonder (regardless of tag and T-bird heritage) if these work as look alikes for the Cleveland guys?

There are allot of differences between the 4300's when compared to 4100 Autolites and the Holleys making look-a-likes less possible. Have some 68 4300 and they are different enough IMHO to stand out
