new guy sayin' hello
« on: February 14, 2011, 04:13:44 PM »
Just registered here and just picked up a 66 notchback 289 4 spd, pony, armstrong, drums and a few rough spots.  Prob not going concourse but have a darn good base to go that way if desired.  As the story goes a dad bought it from original owner in 77 son mopped it out in 80 fixed up and garage kept until he passed away in 09.  His Daughter sold it to me last week.  This is my second 66 Coupe.  My ex-wife convinced me to sell the first one when we had kids, yup it's no wonder she's now my ex.

A few things like he put a washer under the distributor hold down, code says it was a 3 spd std. drivers seat is torn.  Needs some vinyl top trim.  Is a Hurst shifter factory?

I had taken my daughter an her friend out for a drive in the 'old school' (she's 18).  She had never been in a car that rumbled and jumped when you drop the clutch so I had to do it ;-).  Uh oh the old horse needs a bit of tuning up managed to get it a little hot and popped a heater hose clamp (something to be said for all stainless clamps, are NOS clamps out there?).  What an adventure for the kids though, lmao walking down the road to find a place to get a knife, a screwdriver and a jug of coolant.  Told them this is what it was like back in the day except garage stations had everything you needed.

Gotta love life's history lessons.

TTYL friends

I dunno.  Time will tell friends.  Enjoy your ponys I know I will.
