66 K Code 4 Speed Driveshaft Markings
« on: February 17, 2021, 11:36:58 AM »
I have an SJ, 11/08/65 K GT, 4 speed and was wondering what striping should be on mine, think it may have been re-tubed at one time as I find no striped but found paint marks on yoke, also no weights.

Might end up merging this thread with one of the others on the subject

Guess you found other threads on the subject and they didn't help. Kind of got off topic a bit

Best guess from me at this point in time for your car would likely be

Front to rear in order
Light blue - Med Blue - Black Some have been found and described the black as a very dark green for this last stripe so don't know for sure what was going on

Have different combinations from other periods of time during 66 production just like 65

Tube may or may not have had the stenciled tube identification number. Only one out of three would have that marking

Thanks Jeff, would you know where a man could find original style weights as mine has none, so when I have it rebalanced if I need them, I have a local shop with high speed balancing capabilities. Were they different, rectangular, round, square or all of the above? I am at work and will research more tonight.

Some 66 examples that I've typically have found on original drivelines

Not sure of a source the company that balances yours may have these available, guess you could make them then remove a little from the side to get the right weight or try and remove them from a donor driveline then adjust and dress the edges to get the right balance. Shop is likely not going to be real happy with you and all your extra "needs"  :)
