Ford, Why do you do this to me? Mis-matched parts
« on: January 31, 2011, 12:09:36 PM »
Getting the motor ready for this 64 1/2 Pace Car coupe built April 13. The original 260 V8 is correct with PCV valve cast early march 64, no problem.  the carburetor and distributor, however, are from a 64 Fairlane 289 built March 64!  The date codes are right on and these are the original pieces. I know Fairlanes were built along side Mustangs and someone probably didn't care on the line, and I am sure someone didn't luck out and replace these pieces down the road.  this is a Ford faux pas for sure.

So the question is - do I replace these with what the books say should be there or put these back on?  I choose to put these back on. I've seen weider things than this get through.
