I am curious if the used deluxe drive door panel brushed insert your looking for is expected to have typical multiple scratches or are you holding out for one with no scratches? Do you have one now and are trying to upgrade ?

My drivers door insert is gouged in a half moon configuration as the previous owner installed a standard door handle which put a gouge in the insert as the handle now touched it. I don't think that I can push it out from the back and polish it. I was going to try if I didn't find another. My passenger side is nice. Minor scratches which will probably polish out with jewelers rouge in stages.

Your panels do not look that bad as typical deluxe door inserts go. Don't begin to think you are doing something wrong if you cant find panels that are better then yours. Don't shoot the messenger but It is probably a unrealistic expectation to think that you will. I hope I am wrong .It could happen but the odds are not with you. The problem with polishing out scratches is because first off they are Brite Dip (special process) anodized from the mfg and you will have to get through that hard layer of clear before you can effect the surface.  You typically have to strip the entire insert. Once you polish out the scratch the area of polish will look different then the rest of surrounding brush look panel . You have to re brush the entire panel. It is a extreme amount of labor and in the end I have yet to see a restored insert that even looks close to the correct brush pattern and grit of the brush compared to a original panel. The restored panel look is complicated by the other door panel across the passenger compartment looking original and the "restored" insert not. You are trading one problem for another. This is a decades old problem .You probably don't want to hear this and want to find out on your own but my suggestion from a considerable amount of experience is to replace both door panels with some made by Burton so that the match each other. They are as close to the factory as you will find available. If you don't want them to look too new you can distress them slightly after installing them .Best of luck with finding a solution what ever that may be.
