Front Coil Spring Markings 1965 289 Convertible.
« on: October 20, 2020, 01:23:19 AM »
What, if any, factory paint markings would have been on the front coil springs of a 65 convertible, 289 C code, 3 speed manual, no A/C, Dearborn—scheduled build date 2/26/65?  Also it has regular suspension.  I’ve seen photos of the coil springs with stripes painted on them.

Originally your cars front springs would have come with identification colored markings/stripes to help line workers choose the correct spring for the application

Unfortunately the build sheets for 65 + 66 Mustangs are not any help with determining what color(s) were applied

June 65 is the closest I could come to a match of a C code, 3 speed, No AC no PS convertible from notes/findings someone else shared. The marking match other 65 convertibles with 289's I have collected pictures of.

Those markings were a single battleship grey stripe applied as described in the paint mark article in the Library

Hope this helps
