Strut Rod Bushings
« on: January 18, 2011, 11:41:19 PM »
I have a 69 MACH 1 428 CJ. I was wondering if anyone has had any luck removing the crimped inner aluminum sleeve tube that goes through the center of the strut rod bushings from the frame attaching point.  So that they could be reinstalled ? Does this affect the strut rod bushings not having them in place? I'll post some pics to show what I'm talking about if someone's not familier with the sleeve. Thanx, Ron

Yes have been successful at times at uncrimping the ends but our parts are typically allot less rusty than most of the regions. Don't think I ever considered reusing them

Can not speak to if it effect the operation (on original style of bushings) but the replacements/aftermarkets appear not to be designed to use them.

Hi Jeff Thanks. Maybe an assembly line thing to keep them from falling off before the rod was installed. Thank you, Ron
