Metuchen Vin stamp authentic?
« on: August 28, 2020, 04:55:46 PM »
Hello,
Vin stamp found on Metuchen transmission.  Do these characters look authentic?

Jeff, do you have any Metuchen vin stamp examples on blocks or trans?

Have not seen enough NJ examples to form an option. The picture you posted was on the internet at least for over ten years that I'm aware of.

What appears to be the same car's block was also posted so it appears that at least both are somewhat consistent (letters being a different sized font than the numbers) between the two examples. We would expect this if they were both stamped at the plant or if both were faked/added by an owner or shop

i have serious reservations about either stamp being factory correct. would bet money on it a previous owner or restoration shop did that....................
Not something i have seen on other 65/66 NJ hipo engines.
