70 Mach1 Engine Code Decal 351C-4V M/T With A/C.
« on: June 27, 2020, 06:29:34 AM »
I am wondering if someone may have any photo's of an original engine identification decal that was on the front of the valve cover for a 351-4V Cleveland non ram air , manual with Air Conditioning?

So I can get one made up with the right design and size.

I don't think there is a consensus on what it looked like on the left hand side, but the main part would be K608AG. Perhaps a lower case C1 in the bottom left hand side. But for sure not an L or a D. Seems likely that the 351Cs were assembled at the Cleveland assembly plant, like the 302s the year before were.

Good info, Carl. Do you have the tag for a 351C non ram air, 3 sp manual w/o AC? The info Ive found is 'L' over 8 degrees and K600AG.

Is it a 2V or 4V? 2V is K600A and 4V is K608A. The L over timing is incorrect. I believe the smaller C1 in the bottom left corner is probably correct, but no confirmation. The L refers to the Lima plant where six cylinders and 429s were assembled. The G was added to cars with A/C.

That answers a lot of questions. Thanks.

My first attempt turned out so-so but I think I can do better.

Looks good for first attempt. Being picky the "C" narrow at the top turn and the letters overall appear to be fuzzy.

Whomever made these for Ford often used two or more fonts for a sticker and the little letters on the originals I have pictures of don't narrow at the top and bottom of turns like the large ones do

Are you saving the design at a smaller size as a jpg or something then increasing the size to match the original size? Maybe its the picture and angle.  Just trying to put another set of eyes on it for you

Thanks, I use Corel Draw for my limited graphic arts projects. Even though the image is vector, printing it out on an inkjet printer results in some unavoidable fuzzyness. But most of the fuzzyness is due to my limited photographic skills. But I don't know how the originals were printed and if there was any inherent fuzzyness in the process used (e.g., screening.)
I used Duck HD Clear packing tape for the laminate and the serrated cutting.
