valve cover breather tube
« on: August 03, 2020, 11:24:12 PM »
On my 65 289 I have a breather tube that goes into the passenger side valve cover. Does anyone have a picture on how this is attached. I have looked thru all the pictures in the picture section and dont find anything that helps.  There are 2 brackets on the tube (see pic) and I dont see how they both line up with any bolts on the motor. Can anyone help?

From what I remember, the brackets attach to the engine-transmission bolts.
Are you sure your engine came with a "road draft tube"?
I could not find any listing for "tube" or "tube assembly" for a valve cover vent, road draft, or any other possible tube for this in the 60-68 or 75 MPC.

Correct my last.
In the 65 Mustang Engine Equipment  Assembly Manual, AM0155, pg23, the tube assembly, crankcase ventilation (C5OA-6758-A) upper bracket attaches to the rear of the right hand head with 378604-S8, bolt, 3/8-16 X 3/4 Hex Sems or 373461-S8, bolt, 3/8-16 X 3/4 Hex Sems, and 356403-S8, washer, 3/8, and a stud, 308085-(??) which is not listed, but holds the engine to the bell housing above the starter, the nut and washer are not referenced. Both brackets are "U" type, they "slip in" the bolt/stud.

Thanks this is helpful. I can see that the lower bracket might attach to a bell housing bolt but I am not sure of the top bracket.  A picture would be helpful if anyone has one. This gives me a direction to attack this problem.
