Dashpot on Autolite 4300 C9ZF-D required?
« on: July 30, 2020, 12:54:48 PM »
Hello,
I have a Autolite carburetor 4300 with the number C9ZF-D on my 1969 Mach 1 H-Code (FMX/PS/PB/AC build 03/11/69 at SJ)
The Mach was converted to 4V many years ago.
In the workshop manual (Page 10-11-03), the word "none" is in the gap setting table for the dashpot.

Does that mean that no dashpot was installed on the carburetor, or that the distance should be set to zero?

Thank you in advance!!!

Greetings
Harry

Since I lack allot of pictures of M code 69's I suggest that you look through the Assembly Manual that covers the engine assembly.

Lacking that I can report that I did find F, H and M's with the non-electrical style dashpots and or brackets for them on unrestored cars.

Hello,
Thanks a lot Jeff!

Of course, I didn't think of the simplest thing. Shame on me.
I'll look it up tonight.

Greetings
Harry

Hello,
I have also found nothing in the assembly manual and the explodet view manual, except this picture.
As I understand it, there is no dashpot on my carburetor.

Maybe someone else will answer.

Greetings :)

That drawing says 351 with manual transmission. - is yours manual or auto? No dashpot if auto trans.

Hard to understand what they were used on H and F code automatics with AC. Do have an empty bracket on a 4300 (M code) automatic car. And then you have similar applications in 70

A head scratcher IMHO at this point. Wish I have more pictures of the really nice cars we have pictures of with the air cleaners off and out of the way. Would make it a bit easier since the assembly manuals and other printed documents can and do have mistakes/differences between the way they wanted and the way they were. But they are a place to start
