Topic: 69 Dearborn Black Paint Suggestions

I am getting ready to paint my sway bar, front bumper brackets and a few others. Suggestions for a paint that provides the correct look and good durability (rattle can or spray).

others may differ but i have used rustoleum #7777 satin black with good results. it is an enamel paint.

Good durability is guess is the challenge. Have used trim black on some pieces in the last restoration - easy to touch up   but a bit touchy long term

Use to bake rattle can paint to the parts (still do it from time to time) Only certain brands can handle the heat but seemed to improve the durability.

As for other things for the gun - I would not suggest anything we're forced to use around here legally.

I've used Krylon 1613 (rattle can) for years with no problems at all, even on my concours "driven" Mustang. Excellent durability and correct look. And Bob Perkins has even talked about using Krylon 1613 in past issues of Mustang Monthly for the do-it-yourselfer.
