Overseas Registration & VIN Labels and Stickers
« on: July 05, 2020, 06:16:59 PM »
For something a little different thought I would share a few VIN/Registration label and stickers I've collected pictures of over the years. Wasn't sure where best to post this thread so figured here was as good as any place.  Hope this helps some one. Do want to mention that we don't know which of the following/posted examples were from cars exported directly from Ford of the US and which ones were imported to these other countries after they were new or by dealerships in those countries. Because of this different versions of the labeling may be the results of changes or requirements over the years in the label design.

66 New Jersey built fastback Mustang and a 68 New Jersey example (not very legible) registered in Belgium
Difference in label/plate design may be the year that they were made and attached to the vehicle

Two German-Austrian examples both 68 New Jersey built. One Mustang and one Shelby.
Difference in label/plate design may be the year that they were made and attached to the vehicle

Moving on to Japan it appears that the importing company got listed (preprinted labels/plates) on the tag itself as we can see from the examples below

68 Shelby and a 69 428CJ San Jose built Mustang

A couple of 69 Shelby's

I'm guessing when I state that it appears that in more recent years a new updated sticker was added or required to be affixed to the cars in country. Found them next to the metal tag shown above or on the bottom of the hood. They appear to be standardized in their message.

That's it for now from me on the subject :)
