Topic: Dash Serial Number Plate

I would like to refinish my dash serial number plate which is pop riveted to the dash area of the car, as several of the embossed numbers/letters have the coloured finish rubbed off leaving them shiny. The colour seems to be a flat black with a hint of greenish/olive colour, which may be anodized or painted but I am not sure and would like to know how it came from the Dearborn factory.
