I have finally finished the parking brake cables adding the pink paint to the springs and the lime green to the cable retainer. Including photos of the cables before restoration for reference.

Those look great!

My 67 SJ signature car also has the pink paint on the long spring.
We deviate in that 67 appears to use a yellow paint on the retainer.

Where did you get the pink paint? Custom mix?

I just shopped around for various paints for all of the markings on my car at various stores etc. The Green is actually a die, same product as the red dye. I may see if I can find more of a Kaki green like the Green Daub Dichromate. I think the green paint is very close to the clips by the fuel tank and under the dash. Perhaps the original retainer was actually that dichromate. Interesting that the retainer was a different color on '67's. Do you have a photo of the yellow on your retainer?

Also not sure as it is hard to tell, but there seems to be remnants of pink on the retainer ring. Would love a better reference photo to be sure

I found another photo of my cable retainers and now I am wondering about the color. It looks like yellow underneath. I wonder if the green appearance is from black paint over the yellow paint

My build thread offers up the reasons for the yellow as being a carryover from what Charles shows on his cables in his brake restoration thread.

Looking good. Sure your proud of your efforts :)

For everyone reading and watching be careful not to borrow paint marks from one year to another - even similar applications within the same year due to plants using different suppliers. See 65, 67 and 68 being mentioned so far and you can accidental  take note of one year without knowing it.

Just thought the thread could use a reminder  :D
