Maybe compare it to the heater (assuming its not an AC equipped car) door, the interior rear fiberglass trim mounting brackets, spare tire wrench, jack and so on. Those would be 50 years old also and we know those were black. Just a thought

Thank Jeff great idea. I forgot about the heater box door. It's alway tough with a restored car as it is sometimes hard to know what was restored and what wasn't.
