1966 Power steering tie rod ends
« on: February 20, 2020, 02:20:25 PM »
I just received these and I believe they are correct originals but just want to check with the experts here to be sure. They are tight and I was planning on cleaning them up and adding new correct boots from NPD.

Do these look like original tie rod ends for a 1966 with power steering. San Jose, Dec. 1, 65 build date?

The right hand side is the same as a non power steering car. The left hand side uses a larger diameter tie rod, 3/4 inch, and the sleeve uses a bolt with a square shoulder.

Hard to see but if I remember correctly many of the line tie rods had a "B" stamped on the bottom cover where the zerk is on aftermarket rods.

65-66 typically did not have that, more of a 67-up thing.

+1

Later ones had a cast/machined cup holder while the early ones were stamped (thinner) steel
