65 SJ Dash Pad D2 Interior
« on: December 25, 2019, 08:26:34 PM »
I need to replace my blue dash pad for a D2 interior. The replacement from Dash Direct (distributed through Drake) is a different shade of blue and the grain pattern seems to be different. Has anyone else encountered this and is there any advice to solve the issue? The color is not exact in the photo, but the original is on the right

I have owned the car since '83 and I have not replaced the dash pad. When I removed it, it appeared original but it could have been replaced prior to my ownership. Is there any way to determine if the pad that I have is original? The only marking on the back is what appears to be an 20 on the bottom side of the passenger side.

When I took the pad (code 25, Red) off my San Jose March 66 GT Fastback for replacement, I found that had been "moderately" (a 1/2 inch trail of sticky) glued down to the metal. That and the stamped nuts (359606-S8, often missed) at the pad ends inside the dash frame. That's about all I can think of.
