« on: November 01, 2019, 03:06:22 PM »
Trying to help a guy with a april built 66 SJ car.   Ive never had one that late so I could only guess,  hes trying to duplicate the paint  on this panel.  does anyone have pics of an unrestored part

Pretty much everything (all surfaces) in that picture (both sides) would have been blacked out with the same paint used on the engine compartment and the face of the radiator support Visible body color from that angle is rarely found except in the very lower edge where the wheel well transitions to the front frame rail and often that surface is covered by the sound deadener. Black may be thin in the inner upper pocket of the shock tower since pointing the gun up would force paint through the shock hole and rain down on the car and the prior applied paint. Often the forward and rearward surfaces inside the shock tower pocket lower down were well covered with the same black though if the painter rushed it and didn't turn the gun these surfaces could be a little thinner but 50 years ago that would not be noticed as it would be 50 years later after age, wear and exposure took its toll

Catching up from being gone for a few days will fine a picture or to to illustrate
