Topic: Seats height 1968 mustang coupe

Hi, I have taken my coupe back from the upholstery shop.
The seats look great and are comfy, but strangely... they seem to be mounted high, or are just too full of foam. I'm not a tall person, and with my 5'9" I touch the headliner with the top of my head. Is it correct? I can't remember I touched it before having the seats redone, but sure they were badly worn and a little collapsed.

Plus, do the seats have/ should have any regulation of how much do they recline? Or is it just one fixed setting? It is a deluxe interior, if it makes any difference.

The reproduction seat foam if much harder than the original foam. Causing you to set higher.  The cheaper the foam the harder it is. I would try to find some original foam.

68 Mustang's had no back rest adjustment.

I’m not sure but I believe the seat back stop is a plastic button. On the Tbird there is a adjustable bolt that lands on the button. You might want to check that there is no extra material or padding under the button.

The Tbird also had 2 sets of bolt holes for the seat track to seat frame mounting. I do not believe the mustang had these.

For front bucket seats in a 68 Ford used two round bumpers on each base that was made of a hard shinny dense rubber or plastic (don't recall ever seeing one cracked) as shown below
